Sailing in Sardinia
Sailing in Sardinia – think solitary, picturesque coves, stunning beaches and dramatic rock formations. Consistent weather conditions make a sailing trip the perfect way to discover unknown coastal areas that are difficult or impossible to access from land. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of freedom and adventure when the boat dances on the sea, where water and sky become one against a backdrop of rugged cliffs.Sailing and catamaran
The special attraction of a sailing trip around Sardinia is the diversity of its coasts. From the dunes of Costa Verde through the labyrinth of bays along Costa Smeralda to the fantastic cliffs of Cala Gonone – here, two stretches are ever the same.Since wind conditions around Porto Pollo in the north are the most consistent, sailors usually tend to be found along Costa Smeralda. Here, two winds create the perfect conditions for dynamic sailing: the Sirocco wind from the Sahara and the Mistral from the north-west. The Mistral, a powerful wind from the west to north-west, is a regular visitor on the west coast, whilst circulating winds tend to dominate in the south. Southerly to south-easterly winds prevail on the east coast.
Note:
Those who fancy a sailing trip in Sardinia’s waters should either be very competent sailors themselves or take an experienced skipper with them.
